An exhibition of work by art, design, media and architecture students from Manchester Metropolitan University
Suzanne Patterson
Through out this year I have been exploring the concept of art and the everyday. I have been strongly influenced by the essays of Allan Kaprow on the blurring of art and life. I began to explore my own life and environment, this led me to research my own community and its history and also finding the beauty in mundane activities.
One activity I focused on was running, through this I have been able to explore different artistic mediums, which has helped me develop and grow in my practice.
Through running, I began to look at mapping and how maps can be linked to memory. Storytelling became important within the creation of my own maps, as it allowed me to share personal experiences along with information about my community.
