This work explores how we use objects in the home and the spaces we live in to give in order to give definition to our lives. The domestic space is the main focus, looking at the objects we accumulate and the spaces we occupy. The work focuses on my personal space and has developed over a period of time, showing the changing seasons, weather and light in my home, as well as the changing seasons, weather and light in my life.
A space has been created with two projections showing an apparently still image giving the illusion of a domestic space, the only movement is the movement of the light across the walls. In a darkened room, light comes into a windowless room. This is contrasted with a circular book constructed to resemble a lampshade; the images animated by the movement, of the book and the movement of light across a light switch.
The light that enters the domestic space feels fleeting and constantly moving. The reality is the light will always be there, on the wall, in my home, at the same time every year. After the things and I have long gone.
