Ellie Prime MA Graphic Design and Art Direction

Ellie Prime

Ellie Prime, artist & designer, primarily working within printmaking, is interested in the exploration of process and interdisciplinary practice.

Primeland is a fictional land, located between the disciplines of fine art and graphic design. It is a personal exploration of Prime’s own interdisciplinary practice and is a holistic culmination of her university education, encapsulating her MA Graphic Design & Art Direction and BA Fine Art. Through a creation of processes, exploration of materials and consideration of outputs, this project has questioned and challenged Prime’s practice. Primeland is not just a body of work, but more a development and refinement of Prime’s hybrid process.

"The last flag standing" is a site specific piece, which brings together conceptual considerations and visual elements, used throughout Primeland. Created using a mono-graphical screen printing, subverts the repeatability of printing and the ambiguous format of the piece, plays with the concept of a traditional flag. The colours, abstract shapes, and gestural marks reflect the communicative visual language which Prime has developed throughout this project and uses across her work.

She is now keen to continue her artistic practice, and hopes to find creative opportunities within studios or workshops.
