As an illustrator I’ve been interested in narratives, my intention was to illustrate the relationship between objects and their owners and the role of informal archives. I’ve achieved this by using Charity Shops. Charity Shops are repositories of unwanted and disregarded artefacts. These objects could be categorised by how they arrived into the Shops, I have been looking at those which are the result of house clearance after death or relocation to residential care. Alternatively, there are objects that are no longer valued or required by the owner therefore are given away in act of recycling and charity. There is a sense of loss as where the objects have ended up. I have chosen to manipulate the objects to demonstrate this. The manipulation of the objects, has become the barrier between the original owner and my ownership.
