In my work I have explored boundary relationships between human and nonhuman conditions in the landscape. By focussing on boundaries as key elements in the functioning of the landscape, new relationships are established in order to re-activate the Cumbrian landscape which is in serious decline since the de-industrialisation period. Three conditions were identified on the location that asked for a different approach in terms of design tactics. Through the insertion of an artificial dune, my project explores the possibilities of using eroding and accumulating as catalyst in the development of a landscape that not only acts as an unique habitat environment but also facilitates different human activities as well as a soft-technology approach against future sea level rise. In this way, my project seeks to challenge current strategies that address problems of sea level rise.
