Laura Deane
Laura Deane is a documentary photographer concerned with locality and environment. She is interested in the aesthetics of change, regeneration and ephemerality in the constructed landscape.
Her work for the MA is based on her local community, influenced by becoming a mother during the course. The suburb has been documented from a variety of perspectives, incorporating imagery of the built environment and portraiture, as well as text-based work and interviews. The portraits exhibited present campaigners who are working to make the community a better place. The portraits are accompanied by a zine and blog, which have been created in collaboration with other local artists with the local community in mind, and are to be distributed to residents.
Laura's photographic work has become more personal through the MA and she will continue to document her community and create a bi-annual zine for ongoing distribution in the local area.
