Rachel Bakewell
MA/MSc Textiles
I am a neurodivergent research-based artist and I am interested in the natural world, local history, archives, poetry, literature, and various cultural and environmental issues.
My work responds to meticulous research, and I am particularly interested in community narratives.
I tell a visual story by producing textile work and handmade traditional and contemporary prints and books. I make short films based on collected archives, which help bring context to my work.
I collaborate with various archive libraries in the UK and, most recently, the Northwest Film Archive at Manchester Library. This was for a project I was involved in for the final project of my MA at Manchester School of Art.
