Fatima Manjate
MA Illustration
My name is Fatima, and I'm an illustrator whose design practice draws inspiration from anime and cartoons. In my creative process, I combine the art of knitting with digital drawing using Procreate and pixel art techniques. I've expanded my skills by exploring new knitting techniques, enriching my craft. Embracing digital art resonated with me because of my deep love for illustration, and integrating pixel art was a personal dream, perfectly aligning with the project's nostalgic theme.
My work revolves around the themes of nostalgia and the joy of engaging in real-time projects. My message and intent are to help people interested in learning to knit while making it an enjoyable experience through a game with a retro design. To achieve this, I've chosen a pixel art approach to infuse a vintage charm into the game, while also incorporating the principles of Flow theory.
My design practice has evolved significantly over time, influenced by various sources such as VR and AR concepts, Vivian Galinari's insights on AR, the work of MA Fashion student IsmahanePooussin, and creative minds like Kutova Kika. Additionally, I've drawn inspiration from design styles like Low poly, New aesthetic, pixel art, and Jacquart knitting techniques, which have all played a part in shaping this project.
