Susie Hough
Vast, open spaces, intricate, textured surfaces and powerful elements are aspects of the outdoors that Susie has resonated with on a personal level and throughout her creative practice. This body of work identifies the importance and the effect of paternal relationships as well as landscape, and explores the resulting solace that Susie finds in natural form.
Through the use of layered photography, glass, screen-printing and film, Susie has utilised her background in illustration to invite the audience to walk through specific landscape’s that offer her constant inspiration. Moving and still image overlap to narrate the collision of human emotion and psychogeography.
Space, light and shadow in this body of work are important elements that signify the fragile correlation between emotion and the ever changing but constant pull and comfort that Susie feels regarding the outdoors.
