Jamie Swift

My body of work concentrates on a fusion of photographic stills with elements such as sculpture and performance. My practice draws towards fashion portraiture, creating ambiguous imagery for the viewer to engage with by inviting an individual interpretation.

The ‘self’ or the ‘other’ is the concept I’m currently focused on in my practice, examining identity into various components, in an attempt to discern what remains of an objective self. Establishing themes throughout the project including Alienation, Armour and Future. 

Through the making process, I’m constructing what is seen through the lens and leaving nothing authentic remaining in the images by splitting and fracturing my identity for the camera.
