MA Design: Embroidery

My work explores the allure of the archives. The experience of starting the investigation of an archive, the inventory shelves, card files, receiving the huge leather bound volumes, the feel of the paper and then the struggle to decipher the handwriting, the trace, the unexpected and the rejoice at piecing together a narrative. Embroidery is used as a metaphor, for the complex expression's that lie within the archives, one of time, identity, stitching the rejected remnants of society.
