I am a visual artist specialising in illustration, moving image and mural art, working as a freelancer illustrator/ visual artist for several years. I am based in Manchester (UK) but originally I come from the Mediterranean coast of Spain.
Besides working on personal projects I work on both small and large-scale projects, collaborate and work with other artists and also deliver community workshops for children.
In my work I combine hand drawing and new and advanced technologies. However, manual sketching and drawing remains for me the most versatile tool for my work.
My practice in the MA has been developed through a stop motion animation, animating inanimated objects. I made a big scale puppet with the apparence of a robot which is 1m20cm tall, according to the scale of the scenario.
The technological waste abandoned in the countryside achieve their own life, a robot attains to get out from the scrap yard, achieving its own awareness. This fact undertakes an unknown direction: the robot decides to explore and it discovers the waste induces to the pollution, therefore the end of the environment. The robot surprisingly discovers humans are the culprits of this environmental deterioration, by seeing its reflection on a mirror converted in a human shape.
Making a parallelism of meaning to the slogan "we are what we eat”, this animation is an awareness, pointing out, “we are the waste that we generate”.
