Homes with heart
Over the course of time, we seem to forget the value and quality of our traditional homes and spaces. The loss of cultural identity in our domestic spaces formed the initial idea of this project. This practice is an initiative set up to explore the future of cultural values and intends to blur the boundaries between the past and the future.
“The kitchen, the heart of the home”
Homes with heart is investigating how to create a range of successful strategies for the kitchens, where the majority of the interactions between people in a house take place. This kitchen which is inspired by the Iranian culture endeavours to embrace the hidden aspects of an Iranian kitchen and find solutions to respond to peoples’ forgotten demands and desires.
My practice’s main focus is to retrieve traditions and the stream underlying in the layers of a culture, with an indirect approach: the modernity. The Minimalistic design, use of simple surfaces and transparent materials, together with new combined functions, contribute to an alternative concept for the overlooked traditional kitchens. Alongside, through the implementation of stained glass the interior spaces can be transformed from open into semi-private and vice versa. Eventually, the proposed modular system based design will allow the different parts of the kitchen to be tailored towards different lifestyles and intends to enrich the human experience in their homes.
