Fashion is a means of expression, concealing or revealing aspects of your identity and body. I have been interested in the themes of masculinity since my BA and wanted to continue my investigation of the underpinnings of masculinity and fashion during the MA.
I was interested in playing with light, sheer fabrics in this project to encapsulate the concept of Toxic Masculinity and its effects on male behaviour and mental health. The collection is aimed more at a commercial sphere, as I feel this is more accessible to everyday men as well as being the area of fashion design I see my career progressing.
This project is a work-in-progress and is not entirely finished. I want to continue my investigation into masculinity and the relationship it has with fashion post-MA.
