My work is informed by my interest in notions of display. Within this broad subject I explore both bespoke and temporary support structures, craft, anthropomorphism and the drawn line. This results in precarious sculptures in steel and ceramic. The precariousness is due in part to the simplicity of the steel structures which are unfixed and therefore must be arranged in a particular way in order to be self supporting. The steel rods and tubes in my work do not simply act as supports or plinths, but they work in dialogue with their fragile ceramic counterparts. My sculptures also have a close relationship to drawing as that is often how they begin, retaining that quality through ceramic and steel ‘lines’ that suggest incompleteness and continuation.
