Simone Frater-Russell
With this body of work, my intention was to document the nature of memory. I hope to convey the fleeting, ethereal and sometimes unreliable way we recall events or people in our lives.
Although undertaking an Embroidery MA, I have increasingly employed the techniques of screen printing to capture a sense of fluidity and transparency, qualities that I hope communicate my experience of memory.
Using interpretations of the family photograph as my source material, the contrast between the photographic version of a life is put into contrast or even conflict with our personal recollections.
