An exploration of the dichotomy between urban and rural, formed the starting point for my individual design project.
My personal proposition was to '' generate a balance between anthropocentric activities and biocentric environments''. The exploration of the history of the site and its transformation lead to a design strategy, which involved removing physical barriers.Historically these have limited the value of the local ecology, and their removal will create a place which combines recreation and habitat-orientated spaces.
The proposition required the breaching of the Manchester Ship canal to realign the River Mersey’s previous estuarine borders and the ecological diverse transformation that would accompany this action.
