Joy Selous
My work is a personal exploration of a nomadic lifestyle brought together through travel, upbringing and design. I examine cultural influences seen through connections of sentimental posessions, repeated and reoccuring motifs. Whilst I examine the nomads, I also explore the fludity and perception of the term 'home'.
As a textile desinger, my focus is surface print design for home furnishings. My influences stretch out from Kazak felt art, Moroccan tiles, Middle-Eastern caperts, Saudi tableclothes to traditonal British tapestries and curtains.
