My practice engages with the ideas of Material, Place and Nomad, as a reflection on and a reaction to my own nomadic journeys, having spent the past 16 years working as a freelancer on a global platform.
I gather physical materials, cultural philosophies and experiences from different places around the world. I then translate and combine these elements into clay and making, to create ceramic materials, developing a palette of colour, texture and form.
Using a Nomadic philosophy the forms come together creating functional pieces or as a still life. They are placed under the titles of ‘Gathering’ where there are qualities of resemblance and ‘Assemblage’ bringing together the unrelated. All the forms carry with them their own nomadic journey as they move from material, through making and out into the wider world.
