With knowledge of architecture, my MA aims to generate interconnections between Interiors, landscape and technology by creating a multi-use indoor natural environment in an abandoned Ghost station of Manchester. The concern that humans are becoming increasingly separate from the earth, with the modern life and technology being easy sources of distraction. The new generation is growing up with the technology at its figure tips and hence affecting the interaction with nature. The design attempts to create an indoor environment where man and nature could co exist in harmony with each other. The landscape effortlessly blends into the interiors without altering the existing structure. The natural elements play a crucial role to blur the boundaries between exterior and interior; the design gets outside to the interiors and inside to the exteriors of the Mayfield’s Railway Station by the interplay of interior elements. The forgotten Mayfield station was built alongside Piccadilly in 1910 to handle the ever increasing number of trains using the station. The challenge now is that can it be redesigned to become additional lungs to the Piccadilly gardens and the experiential journey through this Indoor nature park will change the perception of human mind and will provoke an urge for similar natural interactions.
