Finding the beauty in decay. The order in the chaos.
Specialising in laser cut leather, my designs are inspired by the self-similar patterns found in nature’s structures. The juxtaposition between nature and machine is prevalent in my work: linking the abstract with the organic. By exploring the beauty of imperfection my hand drawings highlight the irregularities present in fractal forms, which are translated into a computerised design. The choice of black leather lends credence to the traditional Japanese aesthetic of wabi (irregularity) and sabi (simplicity). These qualities are embodied in my collection by combining laser cut repetitive form with minimal lines.
