Lycanthrope - I and II
During the 1980’s Greenham Common was home to American nuclear cruise missiles. This work draws on the changed use and status of the common as well as the physical and psychological legacy of its recent cold war history. The images investigate the redemption and re-enchantment of the landscape through the qualities of the photographic image and the methodology of their construction. The reliquaries house objects recovered from the landscape sealed in lead lined boxes along with sheets of photographic film - the amalgam of film badge/dosimeter with the tradition of the medieval reliquary seeks to reveal the psychological nature of the landscape as an isolated territory and locus of fear and threat at the time of its use by the military.
