Discarded {Object} Memories:
This body of work is the result of utilising textile practice as a research method in order to investigate questions regarding the 'secondary traces' left behind by lost objects, and whether it is possible to visually represent these memories. The study conducted set out to explore people’s own experiences and theories around the concept of ‘object memory’. How do our feelings differ once the physical object has been removed and a memory is all that remains? Practice was used as a tool in order to comprehend these concepts, and as a way to explore the idea of second-hand memories.
This work aims to represent these memories of lost objects, which are articulated through the use of matching colours, semi transparent materials and three dimensional printing techniques, used in order to make the imagery more of a tacit element than a visual one.
