‘REMAINS’
Working as a still life photographer I have a particular relationship towards objects. I believe that every item, even the most insignificant holds a history and has a life of its own.
As a result of breast cancer my mother was left with beautiful brassieres that became unnecessary to her. Their inutility made them dead objects, but simultaneously filled them with personal and lyrical value. Relics of memory that were kept in the closet but wished to be forgotten. To me they became things with souls. Questioning our relation towards the difference of ‘Things’ and ‘Objects’ my work consist of diverse items placed on plinths, representing women in various ways of meaning and reading individual for the viewers perception. ‘Remains’ is a purely emotional and intuitive dialogue between things.
