Esuru Belema Ichoku
Inspired by traditional Nigerian visual art and culture as well as traditional British material culture, these body of works of printed designs for fashion are deeply rooted in the creative philosophy of appropriation and aesthetic hybridisation. These designs reflect an interrogation of historical visual cultures, interpreted in contemporary textile design using a plethora of techniques especially screen and digital printing to express new approach to textile design reflective of the hybrid nature of postcolonial and contemporary culture.
