Cherie Jerrard
Tired of hype I began craving the ordinary, everyday life and the reality of people. I found myself sketching in cafes, responding to stories as they unfold in front of me. Immersing myself in the moment and layering it with a sketch of the next, creating a timelapse effect. Later I add some photography to ground the image, leaving the viewer in no doubt that it celebrates the real world, albeit through my eyes. By observing others you can temporarily remove yourself from the machine and begin to understand what it means to live. Watching life's assortment of splendid and peculiar characters pass us by emphasizes just how ludicrous it is that we try to emulate each other.
