'Metro-polis'

Robert's work predominantly revolves around photographic practice. His work compiles of studies of the developments of urban sprawl. The principal focus is the change of spaces into places, whilst engaging and collaborating with people who inhabit these areas. The aim is to enable the audience to discover and construct the relationships between the two. His work also takes the form of self-published photographic publications, which have been exhibited and sold internationally.

'Metro-polis' is an ongoing project developed as part of a study into the extended lines of the Metro tram system in Manchester. Specific emphasis was based on the Rochdale development. 'Metropolis' focuses on alterations within the landscape, how people adapt to change, and what functions these new places perform. The intention is to capture the transient state from spaces to places, while encouraging the audience to visually construct a scene. The aim is to place questions about urban development persuading the public to consider in depth the changing landscape and how it effects both urban life, aesthetics, and the environment.
