Alice Le Biez

Born in 1987 in France, I graduated with a Diploma in Arts and Crafts in 2006 at the Ecole Boulle of Paris. I discovered the materials and the techniques to create an object. After my graduation I wanted to explore the creative process of Design Product so I moved to Brussels and did a Bachelor in Industrial Design at the National school of Art La Cambre. I developed conception skills by using 3D software. In order to complete my education I came to Manchester for a Master in Product Design.

For my Final Major Project, I want to continue to use my different backgrounds to inform my design practice.

My philosophy is to combine traditional skills and materials (Embroidery, ceramics) with Digital technologies (3D printer, Laser cutting, 3D scanner, ...) to create stories, to generate a link between the user and the object, give emotions to the user. My project is a set of bowls printed in ceramics. I get inspiration from the nature with several organic shapes which I combined together and print in ceramics with a 3D printer. I want to demonstrate that we can link past and future, Savoir-faire and digital technologies in order to create an emotional design.
