Beata Domanska
I am a designer maker specializing in ceramics.
The main core of my practice is my inspirations drawn from both natural and built environment. The designs emerge from my responses to the intriguing forms, textures and outstanding features of the visual sources. I strive to produce work that has visual richness whilst conveying a sense of quietness and apparent simplicity.
My creative output rooted in material and involvement in the making process, is mainly focused on vessel format that represent architectural structures.
I investigate and explore the texture and its application in relation to the form with pieces holding conversations with one another, whether via surface interventions or space between.
Each vessel is a handmade artwork in its own right and together with the textural treatment invites the viewer to examine the piece much closer and its tactile qualities.
I see my work as being about juxtapositions and contrasts; between the sharp and the curved edge, the smooth and the textured surface.
