I am a printed textiles designer specialising in surface pattern design for interiors and homeware products.

My design practice forms two strands. The first is the creation of high quality commercial print designs and illustrations. The second links to commissioned projects and encompasses my passion for using design as a process to benefit various community groups and their local environment. Each strand inspires and supports the other.

For my commercial prints I have a graphical, linear drawing style and an enjoyment for bold colour that translates into my final designs. I always begin by drawing my subject matter by hand before transferring this image to digital media to create repeat patterns. In doing so, the quirks and spontaneous imperfections from my illustrations transfer through to the design, adding to the originality and charm of the piece.

Buildings, maps and destinations inspire me. I love the aesthetic appearance of architecture – the structures, patterns, outstanding features and light reflections.

For my community inspired projects my interest in architecture and place delves deeper to include its history and the stories surrounding it. Memories and people have an imperative place in this work and research and communication is a fundamental part of my design process.
